Welcome to my official website!

I’m a composer, writer, and arts organizer who lives off the grid on a small farm in the Pacific Northwest, where I pursue a variety of creative projects that I hope to share via this website and other social media. My central project at the moment is producing a video series on YouTube, called PROJECT SCREENDANCE, where I collaborate with dance filmmakers from around the world. Working with dance and film has been utterly rewarding, and I'm now 2 years and 23 video collaborations into my project, with lots of great programming coming together for the future. So stick around!

I'm also making moves towards publishing my fabulously quirky dystopian novel, THE LAWN CULT, you can find out more about that project by visiting my Literary Page.

Project Screendance #23

At Last - July 2022

My last collaboration before breaking for the Summer was with choreographer and screendance artist, Michaella Barron, on a set of two contrasting flute pieces recorded by flutist, Miguel Vargas. Featuring dancers, Gabrielle DiNizo and Michaella Barron, and with camera work by videographers, Teymur Guliyev and Quinton Nennig. As always, music by Daniel Gall.

Michaella had this to say about her intention: "At Last" is a piece about two souls finding each other again after time apart. A relatable story universally as we emerge out of a Covid world. Using emotional prompts and embodied movement choreographed by Michaella Barron both Michaella and collaborator Gabrielle DiNizo find solace once again in one another as two hearts become one.

THE LAWN CULT

A dystopian novel by Daniel Gall

55,000 words

Enter the Cultiverse, where everyone has a cult. There’s the Bird Cult, the Water Cult, the Cult of Reason–there’s a whole City of Cults. But our story begins with a simple, rural grass worshipper named Felix, who’s poised to change everything.

Bursting with humor and double-meaning alike to George Saunders’ THE BRIEF AND FRIGHTENING REIGN OF PHIL, and in the vein of dystopian classics such as Margaret Atwood’s MADDADDAM series, THE LAWN CULT tells the story of Felix and Juna, star crossed lovers from an idyllic pastoralist cult that worships the grass. Torn apart by a conflict that brings the grass worshippers to the brink of civil war, they foolishly turn to a strange grass-cutting cult, which arrives intent on brainwashing their people. Their minds are purged and reprogrammed with constant busywork, and ritualized hate, the proscribed conventions of the "Supposedto," the main doctrine of the Lawn Cult, become their religion, and as they forget the past, and even their names, they’re each assigned a number. Felix is lost; purged. He’s Fourteen now. But Juna has a plan, one that will pit the purged Lawn Cult fanatics against themselves from a forgotten past. Before she purges with him, Juna sets her plan in motion. If ever Felix, and the grass worshippers can be brought back, it will only be at the end of a great quest.

Thanks for stopping by!

Technology is difficult, electricity is scarce, and the old ways don’t work anymore. I’m still working out the kinks of making this all happen with my off-grid lifestyle. It’s a long path, ahead and behind, but every day I take another step. I hope to see you when I get there!
