Welcome to my official website!

I’m a composer, writer, and arts organizer who lives off the grid on a small farm in the Pacific Northwest, where I pursue a variety of creative projects that I hope to share via this website and other social media. In my time off the grid, I've learned a lot about the world, I wrote several novels, and I went on to produce a monthly dance film series with my music, called Project Screendance. That experience profoundly changed the art of my work, steering me towards a more theatrical approach that connects my musical and literary works, and prioritizes the recording studio over the concert hall.

What’s New:

I have two new creative offerings for 2025.

Exit Paradise: A Dance-Fantasy Album

Release date: September 1, 2025

Pre-orders available now at danielgall.bandcamp.com

I'm excited to release my first official album, Exit Paradise, featuring The Miguel Vargas Ensemble, and violinist Laura Giannini. This dance-fantasy album has been years in the making, and grew directly out of my Project Screendance series. It's a programmatic work, with a scene-by-scene story that accompanies the music, about the plight of a poor wanderer in a city of competing cults, who gets swept up into the Cult of Paradise, and has to escape. It's loosely based on my upcoming novel, The Lawn Cult, which I'll be releasing shortly after the album, later this year. Let's talk about that next!

The Lawn Cult: A Dystopian Novel

Release date: TBA (late 2025 seems likely, all materials are finished but we're still formatting and working out a few details)

This novel was my second literary effort, based on my farm experiences, and the first that I'll be publishing, finally... years later... after long, tiresome hours editing and rethinking my quirky piece about competing cults. I'll probably never write a piece like this again, and you can read that in both an, "I've learned my lesson," and an, "I've tapped into something unique," kind of way. I hope readers will find something important here, buried in satire and strangeness; something about cults, and ourselves.

Motors roar, and the scent of poisons wafts in the air, as Fourteen gathers with the cult on the First Lawn. Stepping forth from a grid of plastic unto a lawn of cut grass, he is chosen. Behold!

A twisted messiah story from a land of competing cults, THE LAWN CULT tells the tale of Felix and Juna, star crossed lovers from an idyllic, pastoralist cult that worships the grass. Torn apart by a power struggle that brings the grass worshipers to the brink of civil war, they foolishly turn to a strange grass-cutting cult, which arrives intent on brainwashing their people. Their minds are purged and reprogrammed with constant busywork, and ritualized hate, the prescribed conventions of the "Supposedto," the main doctrine of the Lawn Cult, become their religion, and as they forget the past, and even their names, they’re each assigned a number. Felix is lost; purged. He’s Fourteen now. But Juna has a plan, one that will pit the purged Lawn Cult fanatics against themselves from a forgotten past. Before she purges with him, Juna sets her plan in motion. If ever Felix, and the grass worshipers can be brought back, it will only be at the end of a great quest.

Technology is difficult, electricity is scarce, and the old ways don’t work anymore. I’m still working out the kinks of making this all happen with my off-grid lifestyle. It’s a long path, ahead and behind, but every day I take another step. I hope to see you when I get there!
